Cheyenne 05:10
Well I ain't ever been to Cheyenne But I've always loved the name The freight cars roll on by me And the clouds look like rain I whisper to the lady She wears headphones all the time and I talk about the weather and how I've never seen her smile She turns to pick her bag up And gets up to walk away Rolls her eyes up to the heavens And goes on with her day But I ain't ever been to Cheyenne But I've always loved the name The freight cars roll on by me And the clouds look like rain You may ask me my opinions And I'll tell you loud and true Where to score your junk Where to lay your head Where to get a cup of soup All these side streets, and these alleys Are where I tend to roam All my friends, I call them victims Between jobs and between homes But I ain't ever been to Cheyenne But I've always loved the name The freight cars roll on by me And the clouds look like rain My true colors, you don't see them All you see are ragged clothes Where I've been, what I've seen All the love that I've known And you ask me if I'm happy well I'm content, it's what I know I never stole a piece of bread and I've never hurt another soul But I ain't ever been to Cheyenne But I've always loved the name The freight cars roll on by me And the clouds look like rain But I ain't ever been to Cheyenne But I've always loved the name The freight cars roll on by me And the clouds look like rain But I ain't ever been to Cheyenne But I've always loved the name The freight cars roll on by me And the clouds look like rain

Well today was the day we found your mother okay She lives by the sea with her new family Well they sing and the dance And they watch True Romance Over and over again We thought she had died We found her car was in drive Sitting at the bottom of a lake Well the years did go by And we watched the tears dry And the light come back on your face Well the questions hung high And the feelings run wild For those years that we thought you were gone And a lot sure has changed From the town you once came It's bigger and faster these days With my wife and my home I've got a child of my own He loves listening to stories of you But I can't figure why you never did try To tell me you were okay Well the doc told me true, You have no memory of who I am or who you once were With my wife and my home I've got a child of my own He loves listening to stories of you But I can't figure why you never did try To tell me you were okay Well the doc told me true, You have no memory of who I am or who you once were

Spy vs. Spy 04:52
Spy vs. Spy Well it’s you versus I I set all my traps long ago No pain in your eyes You told me goodbye And you tried to walk out that door That bucket of death It fell right on your head You fell for the oldest trick With your face melting down And a mess on the ground All is fair in love and war Isn’t it? Spy vs. Spy Well it’s you versus I We set all of our traps long ago You left me in the dark And your words left a mark So I tried to turn that light on That switched tripped a wire That blew up an entire Block of C4 in my face Parts of me everywhere They say love isn’t fair But oh what a battle we make Spy vs. Spy Well it’s you versus I We set all of our traps long ago

Restless 04:09
I am restless like a sunbeam that shines through my curtain seams I drank too much caffeine and my brain is still running wild To a staggered beat I tap my foot and I wonder what became of her She told me once I’d never find no one quite like her Til you fall to the ground and the sky is all you see Its up and its on to better things for me The tears were just a dream of harder days gone by And I hope I see you again The summers came and the winters went like I’d never heard of common sense I drowned you out in heavy bouts of cocaine and booze If I ever sink that low again well it won’t be too soon To those of you who pulled me through, I can’t thank you enough Til you fall to the ground and the sky is all you see Its up and its on to better things for me The tears were just a dream of harder days gone by And I hope I see you again Life on the ground Forces unseen Eyes open wide I’m on my knees I am restless like a sunbeam that shines through my curtain seams I drank too much caffeine and my brain is still running wild

Well I’ll be coming in fast tomorrow I’ll be flying in low tonight If your staying up late put the kettle on Cause we’re in for a bumpy ride I’ve got no reservations I’ve got no reservations For you now Well it started in the hell of August And it ended by the honeymoon Two weeks later we were back on steady Some say it was due to the moon I’ve got no reservations I’ve got no reservations I’ve got no reservations For you now You see we met awhile back in Manhattan At an upscale restaurant And I didn’t like you and you didn’t like me And we figured that was all it was And sometimes when the body softens Like some ice cream in the sun And I hugged you on the street in Brooklyn And I remember how it felt so good I’ve got no reservations I’ve got no reservations I’ve got no reservations For you now Don’t be pouring no water on electric fires Don’t put it out, it just sets it higher Screaming at each other, no we won’t back down Well that’s it I’m out I’ve got no reservations I’ve got no reservations I’ve got no reservations For you now I’ve got no reservations I’ve got no reservations I’ve got no reservations For you now

Horizons 05:12
Over the mountain I’ve come Oh she’s amazing, I see she’s real Now be gone you bad thoughts Don’t be wasting my time With eyes on horizons Soon she will come God only knows If you mean it, I mean it Thats what I know Won’t you tell me I’m right The clouds open up And the sun shines so bright As sure as your here You bring light to my life Seems like I’m falling Like I’m falling for you The wind from the Northeast Blows me to you Untied and I’m okay I’m a fool for you now If you never let go Well you never know how God only knows If you mean it, I mean it Thats what I know Won’t you tell me I’m right The clouds open up And the sun shines so bright As sure as your here You bring light to my life God only knows All I know God only knows All I know God only knows If you mean it, I mean it Thats what I know Won’t you tell me I’m right The clouds open up And the sun shines so bright As sure as your here You bring light to my life Over the mountain I’ve come Oh she’s amazing, I see she’s real

Once your gone you can’t go back That I know for sure Who’s looking out? Who’s looking out? I’ve been up and I’ve been down On different paths you see Someone’s looking out Someone’s looking out Days will come that try your mind and soul So burn around the edge and let them go She loves you so and still you know When time will set it right A little bit of time, A little bit of time Ocean floors that hide the souls that wash us back out side A little bit of light A little bit of light Days will come that try your mind and soul So burn around the edge and let them go Days will come that try your mind and soul So burn around the edge and let them go Once your gone you can’t go back And that I know for sure Who’s looking out? Who’s looking out? I’ve been up and I’ve been down On different paths you see Someone’s looking out Someone’s looking out Days will come that try your mind and soul So burn around the edge and let them go Days will come that try your mind and soul So burn around the edge and let them go

There’s a fire in your eyes Whom does it burn for? And I see your light As the rain turns to snow Well a man came around Asking some questions I pleaded guilty To loving you so I cursed the moon when you read my fortune I’d rather not know what lays in store I follow you home like a stray dog with purpose And I’ll wait right here til you come around Oh but I feel it’s true My love for you Everything seems so bright and new The light as it shines, wish I could freeze this in time And just hold on to you, Just hold on to you I cursed the moon when you read my fortune I’d rather not know what lays in store I follow you home like a stray dog with purpose And I’ll wait right here til you come around

Reflections 04:02
I’m going to wake you up So you get to see The lights go down Reflecting off the walls It knocks me down Remember you and me I’ll miss that town and the girl you used to be When we grow up And the lessons we’ve all learned We’ll think right back to The love we’ve shared and had I’ll miss you still I’ll miss you still I’m going away, going away pretty baby I’m going away right now I’m going away, going away pretty baby I’m going away right now I’m going to wake you up So you get to see The lights go down Reflecting off the walls It knocks me down Remember you and me I’ll miss that town and the girl you used to be I’m going away, going away pretty baby I’m going away right now I’m going away, going away pretty baby I’m going away right now I’m going away, going away pretty baby I’m going away right now I’m going away, going away pretty baby I’m going away right now I’m going away, going away pretty baby I’m going away right now I’m going away, going away pretty baby I’m going away right now I’m going away, going away pretty baby I’m going away right now I’m going away, going away pretty baby I’m going away right now

about

This beautiful live acoustic recording captures the essence of a wonderful night of folk music in New England with incredible story telling and haunting harmonies. On this warm April evening in 2011 Split Tongue Crow shared the stage with other two other talented performers from the area: Big Paws and Blackjack Crossing. The show was curated and recorded by Kevin Dremel. The sound is honest and bare as recorded with two ribbon microphones in a mid-side configuration.
Pertinent to our times the cemetery at the chapel lays rest to many who died from the 1918 Spanish Influenza. The music recorded close to a decade ago now will be shared in a very different yet tragically connected time.
